Know Your Neighbourhood (“KYN”) is all set to foster the talents of aspiring film directors in Chennai with its 1st Ever Short Film contest, scheduled to be held from July 15th 2024 till Sept 13th 2024. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase the work of all aspiring film directors in Chennai through the medium of a 5-minute short film.. The goal is to provide a stage for aspiring filmmakers to cultivate their unique identities and gain recognition as prominent directors in Indian cinema.
Hereinafter, every aspiring film director and his/her team who wish to participate in this contest shall carefully read this document, which lays down the process for participation, the contest process, and the Rules and regulations which are to be followed mandatorily for valid participation. Every aspiring film director and his/her team participating in this contest shall henceforth be referred to as ‘Participant’.
KYN reserves the sole right to disqualify any entry if,
Violence may not be glorified / Involvement of children in violent acts or abuse / Abuse or ridicule of the physically or mentally handicapped / Unnecessary depictions of cruelty to animals / Gratuitous violence, cruelty, or horror / No vulgarity, obscenity, depravity or double entendres / No scenes degrading women / No denigration by race, religion or other social groups / No promotion of sectarian, obscurantist, anti-scientific and anti-national attitudes / Relations with foreign countries should not be affected / No national symbols or emblems, except in accordance with the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 (12 of 1950).
Please note: KYN’s decision in this regard shall be final and binding.
KYN, with an aim to promote short films and encourage upcoming directors, producers, and other artistes, shall conduct this Contest through their Platform, as per the rules and regulations as listed below for a smooth functioning.

In case of any controversy on a matter not mentioned in the above regulations, KYN will decide on an appropriate action. KYN’s decision shall be final and binding.
